THE EXPERIENCE

Live out your railroad dreams as you step into the cab of historic Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive No. 765  or Nickel Plate Road No. 358 and become an engineer or fireman for a 45-minute session while you operate over the Indiana Northeastern Railroad! Throttle Time is the perfect gift for the lifelong railroad fan or the locomotive lover in your family.

THE OFFERINGS

Guest engineers will observe and receive instruction and operate the 765 or 358 for approximately 45 minutes at speeds up to 10 MPH.

Participants should plan to report to 1469 West Main Street in Pleasant Lake, Indiana, but the final boarding, departure and operating address will be dictated by railroad traffic and communicated on the week of your event.

THE FINE PRINT 

All guest engineers must be 18 years of age or older, and all guest firemen must be 16 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license, be in good health, have good mobility, and be able to climb ladders/stairs. Due to the federal waiver requirements, no one under the age of 18 is permitted to operate either locomotive.

No guests or personal electronic devices are permitted in the cab of either locomotive, but we’ll be glad to get a picture for you.

Any family or friends in attendance will be welcome to view from the ground or trackside as you participate.

Family members interested in participating at the same time can purchase Fireman and Engineer time slots together.
